Nine panels reveal tribal motifs, in this exquisite table runner by Aphi Mina. Handloomed cotton is embroidered and appliqued with fine stitches and intricate designs. The work is representative of textiles from Thailand's Akha tribe and beautifully showcases Mina's skill. Coins adorn each corner. Aphi Mina crafts these textiles like a painter would, each piece representing something that occurs around her at the time. So no two pieces are alike [although they are in essence similar to the picture]. Artisan Info: "I am an Akha woman, from a hill tribe that originally lived in the mountains of China, Laos, Myanmar and northern Thailand. I was born in Myanmar in the 1920s. When war broke out there in the 1960s, my husband was killed. With my son's family and some relatives, we came to Thailand.
